Dear AT,
In my Brooklyn townhouse, I finally refinished the wood floors that had been hidden by ceramic tile, plywood and several layers of linoleum.
Now I'm trying to figure out what direction to go in with paint colors.
The living room hosts a Rochelle sofa from Crate & Barrel in Hydra (a sort of vintage aqua blue)...

Now I'm torn between keeping things simple and clean with either a weathered stone or china white vo. a deep, bold chocolate hue to make the couch really pop from the background.
Any thoughts?
I like a celery color for the computer room, but I'm also wondering if it'll clash with a brown.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks! Bruno

The Rochelle sofa in Hydra is my absolute favorite. I'd design a whole space around that thing! It's got such a great pop of color I'm not sure you'd want too much going on with the walls. Maybe a silvery-gray?
I love the idea of keeping a cool green color story to your whole wall color scheme. I think that the green would be great for the computer room. I would do a less saturated green for your main room. This would tie nicely to your couch and would accent your floors that you just spent so much of an effort on.
I'm a sucker for Benjamin Moore's Veil Cream, which i think would work great with your sofa....
I'm a fan of silvery-gray, too! White accents would just pop and keep the whole colour scheme fresh and clean.
Too open-ended a question, with too few style clues, to answer.
I love cool, pale silvery grays as well. It compliments the sofa while still being neutral enough to add in pops of color in your accessories.
beachwalk, ralph lauren..........
Paint makes SUCH a difference-totally completes a space.
If you are going for a brown, I would suggest a minky brown instead of a chocolate, per se. (Cobble brown or one of the tones on the same colour strip from Sherwin-Williams is beautiful) and if you are looking for the perfect celery green, Lemongrass from Benjamine Moore is lovely in most lighting-and wouldn't be too bluey-green when co-ordinating with your beautiful blue sofa in the next space.
A lovely lighter choice would be an old Sherwin-Williams colour called "Thatched Straw"-it picks up beautiful tones in all different types of light. (Its a buttery, yet very neutral greyed down yellow)
Thanks to everyone for their great comments. After considering a deep brown accent wall, I think I prefer the cool, clean feel of a silver-gray color for the living room and BM celery in the computer room!
I'll be sure to post follow-up photos!
