I don't have an answer...I have my own question about the sheets that were hanging on the clothes lines at the beginning of the movie...Beautiful colors! The movie overall was so visually stimulating.

Denyse Schmidt has great quilts... not exactly what is in mamma mia, but nice modern designs (and in the $300- $500 range).

where do you buy josef frank sheets, or that bedspread.. I only know of the Svenskt Tenn site for fabrics and furniture and lights.

Brooklyn - It can happen...I got mine to go with me on Friday. The movie is such good fun (plot? who needs a plot?) that you can't help but have a great time. Next time, I'm sneaking in wine.

Just to tease you... you can buy wonderful and not too traditional stuff like this at a nunnery in the Peloponnese town of Kalamata... ;)

I am very skeptical that this is anything but a traditional "island" bedspread - cotton sheet on one side, blanket on the other, quilted loosely and stitched with three or four overlapping designs. You might get these at a local "Laiki" on textile day or sometimes at tourist/village shops or the larger department stores. there are some traditional villages that have a craft/artist center that still make these but most of them that you would find in greece that are new are made in india, iran, bangladesh, china, etc.

Unfortunately, these types of textiles are not usually exported for sale. This one has a sort of "prika" look to it (prika is the handcrafted dowry = basically, women are supposed to sit around and sew everything they will ever need and when they are done they get married).

You can probably get these in Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Cyprus, FYROM, Croatia, Albania, etc.

Greece used to have a ministry that promoted the continuation of handicrafts - I don't know if it still operates a store. But there is a book on Greek Style - from Taschen. It shows more modern patterns in modern/refurbished island houses.

The word for embroidery in greek is kentima. the word for bed is krevati or krevatiou. κέντημα χειροτεχνία is embroidery and handicraft in the same search.

You might find a greek design blogger that will do personal shopping and send it to you - but you have to trust them on the colors/design.
