Dear AT,
I'm looking for a nice dresser.
Now the candidates are down to two:
The 8-drawer Poliform or the 6-drawer Boconcept, in black.
I'm getting a Wenge/black stained oak finish.
The Poliform, of course, is twice as expensive.
But I'm willing to pay more if the quality and service justify it.
Is Poliform worth it? Is Boconcept cheap? Please help.
Thanks! Jing

the first one. i like darker furniture though.
i was pretty unimpressed by the quality of the BoConcept dressers and drawers when I saw them in person, they felt more like IKEA than something I should be paying so much for.
Talk about opposite ends of the spectrum!
I have never been impressed with BoConcept, so if you can afford it, go with the one from Poliform.
boconcept = icky
go for the good stuff.
If price is less of an issue, go with Poliform. Bo Concept is really not that great. It is basically very expensive Ikea that is assembled for you.
If you want the Poliform unit but are looking to cut the cost, try ordering the piece through Europe By Net. It is a simple process. You just email them and let them know which piece, size, and finish you want, they will send you a quote (typically about 20-25% less than the suggested US retail) and you place the order if everything meets with your approval.
The other thing you might want to check is Jesse Italia's various unit styles.

Be sure to click through all of the pictures under each style. Some of them bare a remarkable likeness to some of the Poliform styles. Jesse's price point is typically much closer to Bo Concept than Poliform, so if you find something that matches the Poliform item in style, you may be able to save some money there. I don't know who carries Jesse in New York, but they are carried by Pomp Home in LA. They may be able to order for you, or help you find a New York retailer.
One thing you should be aware of: Italy shuts down in august. Everything closes. If you place your Poliform or Jesse order now, you are probably looking at an additional 4-6 weeks on top of the usual 6-8 weeks for an item to come from Italy. You may only find immediate satisfaction if the Poliform unit you want is sold from the floor or if they happen to have the exact style you want in the warehouse (which is rare as Poliform doesn't warehouse a large inventory in the states.)
ha hah. in my experience the more $$ the furniture costs, the worse the "service" is going to be.
Thank you so much everybody. I'll definitely report back once my dresser arrives:)
im very happy with my bo concept dresser it is definately better than ikea
I have a bunch of BoConcept stuff in my living room and would not do it again. Though I think it's better than Ikea quality I agree with the other commenters that it is overpriced.
Spring for the Poliform if you can afford it.
