Warren Chappell, the 20th century type designer, once said "the flood of print has turned reading into a process of gulping rather than savoring."
It's remarkable then to look at this antique letterpress type cabinet and ponder the way things used to be - the grinding pace of building a block of text letter by letter, the ink-stained fingers, the eye strain.
If only for the reminder to slow down every once and a while, this letterpress would be a wonderfully unique piece to own, especially if you're a writer, editor, or just a lover of the printed word!

These old pieces are really special and can be the piece that makes the room. This piece specifically would add soul and fit in very well with lofts or more industrial aesthetics (I wish I lived in NY). For $500, not a bad deal.

When design takes priority, the result is often strange closets.
I agree, but I think that the card catalog is as nice of a piece and $300 cheaper than the Leterpress cabinet. That card catalog makes the headlining cabinet seem overpriced.
I love pieces like this....growing up a newspaper editor/owner's daughter and all. I love seeing people incorporate them into their homes.
