The history of the club chair is that it was designed to provide a place where the 19-century man could relax and have a drink, or smoke a cigar, far away from the demands of his work (or wife). With their black mohair upholstery and cherry wood construction, this pair of club chairs designed by architect Robert A.M. Stern are pretty swanky. Thankfully it is now entirely appropriate for women (and not just men!) to enjoy the comforts of these chairs. - Cambria
