This is just a quick post to get the word out that as you declutter this weekend you should put your unwanted electronics to the side so you can take advantage of a great opportunity: a citywide electronics recycling event in a few weeks.
Here's the info:
What: Computers, monitors, TV's, printers, scanners, keyboards, mice & cell phones
Where: Union Square, North Plaza
When: Sunday, October 16th (rain or shine)
For more info go to the Lower East Side Ecology Center (212.477.4022).

We did this 2 years ago when we upgraded our computer. We dropped off a huge flatbed scanner, a hard drive, monitor and zip drive. A much better alternative to leaving it curbside.
For a good recycling of electronic products you need the kryorecycling- technologie from Dr. Harry Rosin. The ist an important factor for stopping the Waste- burning- factories. Look to the german page www.total-recycling.org.
I have been using a local electronics recycler called E-Tech Recycling. They recycle all types of electronics such as computers, TV, Printers, fax etc. I think it is really good for the environment to recycle electronics since there are so many harmful chemicals in them. For information about E-Tech visit them at www.etechrecycling.com
If you have a chance check out PC Recycler for your recycling needs. They also do data destruction.
