9 Month Cure: Drumroll Please!

drumroll.JPG
Leave it to Maxwell and Sara Kate to be so devoted to the Kid's Month theme.... Yes, word on the street is that they are in the hospital and things are happening! Stay tuned!

Believe it or not, Maxwell didn't even bring his laptop to the delivery room! (He has a video camera instead)... but we will be holding down the fort in his drama-filled absence.

I just can't stand the suspense. It's just too exciting!

Great news! I hope she has a fast and easy labor and thank goodness he didn't bring his laptop, this is no time to think about work.

Hey, I thought video cameras weren't allowed in any labor and delivery rooms any more.

wonderful news. will be thinking about them all morning. SKGR is amazing: imagine waiting until the kitchen was up and running, save for some minor tweaks. You go, girl!

So exciting - I hope all is going well!

This is great! Keep us posted please!

Actually, I absolutely CAN imagine somehow willing something like this to wait to happen until the nest is ready, so to speak, so I really don't think it's just a happy accident.

posted by Curtis on 2006-09-27 11:10:44

I'm with Curtis on this one. No one's really sure how the mind-body connection works, but if the mother's whole body is in "nest not yet, soon soon soon" mode, baby might well cooperate.

OMG.. great news! Hope she will have an easy labor. Cannot wait to see the pictures of your baby, in your remodeled apt.

Good Luck to you both!

Are we taking bets on the sex of the baby? It sort of feels to me that a girl would be a natural for Maxwell and SK, but maybe a boy would challenge Maxwell more! Get him out of the house(s) and onto the soccer field!

Awesome news! Takes me back almost 25 yrs ago. It was the most painful experience of my life but the end results were well worth it!!
Good luck parents and many blessings!

Gee the last 9 month cure post - with the gross sink pipe - disappeared.

Lydia, I hope you'll respond here about wall wart and that other term - something plug - about the electrical connections.

Isn't is great to be anticipating the arrival of a wonderful new life instead of dwelling on all the crap in the news we are bombarded with?

All the people waiting to here Maxwell & Sara Kate's good news. So incredibly exciting - and I agree with Curtis and Wende (when did you move to Phoenix - I miss a few days here and there and I'm lost )the mind body connection is fascinating. This child is hanging on until the right moment.

I'll be checking AT every 30 minutes!!!

seems to me, that if they knew they were going to be busy and in the hospital today, maybe SK had a scheduled c-section if she didn't deliver by then. I keep wondering if they will be at Columbia Presbyterian where my sister is an ob-gyn on the labor floor.

posted by meva on 2006-09-27 12:09:18

Boy, it's been eight years as of this month, and I still remember everything about that day. Maxwell, please tell me you're not videotaping this? That's future torture for that poor kid!

posted by Grady on 2006-09-27 12:10:49

Jackie -

I'm absolutely with you on that - good news is precious and it's crucial to get a certain amount of it.

posted by Curtis on 2006-09-27 12:11:25

...and torture for SK! My husband took pictures right after I delivered and then emailed out the most unnattractive photo of me EVER out to all our family and friends.

posted by matilda on 2006-09-27 12:17:20

i'm sure that, in a few weeks, you people will be just as supportive of me when the chunkster pushes out the next one.

Wonderful news! And a baby with genius timing. Best wishes to the three of you on this magnificent day!

I just hope Maxwell doesn't blog any pix of SK without her permission!

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!

posted by maya gorton on 2006-09-27 12:30:20

I think she was probably induced since Maxwell knew they would be out tomorrow. My doctor said the policy these days is to induce if the baby is a week or so late. They do not want to take any risks of something bad happening by keeping the baby in there too long.

Have I mistakenly tuned into AT: The Soap Opera?

posted by bonnieb on 2006-09-27 13:39:28

As a p.s., I don't wish to sound quite so cynical as I'm all for congratulating people on the birth of their healthy newborns, but come on, bringing up a blogger's being induced or a c-section or what hospital they are in, etc. Enough of this voyeurism, please.

posted by bonnieb on 2006-09-27 13:43:04

I'm with meva and trish. It's either a c section or being induced (which usually leads to c section...)

Hey Jackie! How go plans to move West?

We moved this past weekend. Details are in the incredibly self-absorbed link in my signature.

Wende: Out west needs to wait. Big Bummer. So I've hunkered down in a studio along the Hudson River - we're talking SMALL - and I love it. Incredible view. A perfect place to be for the next few years. But I'll end up back in California. I'll read your blog. So how IS Phoenix? Hot? Liking it?

And I thank you again for your help in the past.

Hey, remember me?

So when are we betting this sweet child will be born - timewise?

i actually woke up early 2 days in a row to check the site before work..... i think i need a new hobby..... GOOD LUCK GUYS!!!!

posted by kristian on 2006-09-27 14:10:52

bonnieb, I'm with you. It seems a little creepy to me that people are discussing the method and place of birth!

posted by Liz on 2006-09-27 14:17:09

posted by saya on 2006-09-27 14:17:57

Good luck Maxwell & Sara Kate! Can't wait to hear about the newborn.

posted by GZgoingMod aka Geraldine on 2006-09-27 14:28:56

I will guess boy. There was a beautiful shot of Sara Kate's back and no bulge visible. There is an old wive's theory that in front and high means a boy, now I'm an old wife and it turned out true when they said it to me

posted by kate(NC) on 2006-09-27 15:54:39

Blessings on the one arriving! and on the family s/he joins! [What a sensible, sensitive child to time the debut so perfectly].

Liz and bonnieb, I'm puzzled -- why is it creepy or voyeuristic to wonder about the details of a baby's birth?

posted by happilyever on 2006-09-27 15:59:13

It's definitely not voyeuristic. I don't think she knows what that really means. (I doubt anyone has their face pressed up to the window in SK's room or is asking to watch the video.) Creepy is a matter of opinion, but I don't think anyone's been creepy.

posted by lalala on 2006-09-27 16:52:21

Creepy would be showing up at the hospital to help. Gossip is what people do when one of our circle is launching an urchin into the world.

posted by wende in phoenix (not SF any more) on 2006-09-27 17:12:27

Are they redoing the delivery room first....?

posted by stillnobaby? on 2006-09-27 18:02:02

Yeah, I'm not really interested in those kind of birthing details, but I don't think the interest should necessarily be considered voyeuristic, since the parents-to-be have been already posting about their pregnancy and their private home on an internet blog. It is natural for people to be curious and interested when they have been graciously allowed to peek so intimately into someone else's lives.

Anyway, I'm very excited! I've been incredibly busy - too busy to even think most days...but I've been checking in to AT every day with only one thought in my head: "Is that baby here yet?"

posted by Dorianne on 2006-09-27 18:25:38

and hey, let's not be too quick to assume that labor's been induced or there was a previously scheduled c-section. maybe labor started yesterday and maxwell was just letting us know that baby g-r was knocking at the door

posted by valerie on 2006-09-27 23:13:21

OK! So what's the news?

posted by ebrown on 2006-09-28 00:17:03

Just checking in before making breakfast. Of course it's voyeristic, but frankly, being anxious for good news about people we have come to care about seems healthier that peering into peoples's closets. And birth, although a private experience, is about the most important event living things experience. So naturally we are interested and eager to know all is well. and if its a boy what the name is and how much he/ she weighs, hair or bald and all that....and how the parents are feeling.

posted by kate(NC) on 2006-09-28 07:20:19

I agree with kate(NC) that we are just "anxious for good news about people we have come to care about." All the best to you, Papa Maxwell and Mama Sara Kate, we look forward to hearing about the new arrival and hopefully seeing pictures of him or her ("The Inside Out: Maxwell & Sara Kate's Original Production"?!)
