If you are a retro buff, Elmira Stove Works is a resource for you. A family business for three generations up in Ontario, Elmira Stove Works started as a supplier of stove parts for nearby Mennonite families and soon began making their own stoves. Now they make high end stuff with all the old designs.
Elmira Stove Works has two lines: Antique and Northstar. The Antique line seems to have broken links, but the Northstar is a full fledged line of stove ($4,000), hood ($1,100) and fridge ($4,000) that all come in multiple colors, retro style and brand new innards.
This is expensive stuff, but about on par with other antique/new appliances we have seen. Elmira says that each piece is made to your specifications, and at these prices we believe it. (Via Popgadget)

OK - I'm commenting too much today, but... these are pretty rad looking designs. Reminds me of the kitchen my dad has slowly built over the years, although instead of retro 50s, its more like retro 40s and even 30s. He even found an OLD 1930's enameled stove and restored it. Looks a little like this:

Although every time I got home to visit, I'm half afraid he's going to blow up the house. But he's using it for 15 years now and it still works better than the crappy stove I have in my apt.
This is in fact a fabulous stove. One of the things that I find interesting, besides that vibrant color is the fact that the stove itself seems thinner than a stove that would be sold today.
It looks to me like something circa 1950 or so. Are there any knowckoffs that are a bit cheaper that would still have the same quality as todays stoves?
Bill, try bigchillfridge.com. The refrigerators are around $2700 versus Elmira's $4,000. I didn't see pricing for the stoves but you can email them or request a brochure.
And I totally should have mentioned that I found that site on scrappy girl's domino magazine blog.
I had to toss a beatiful old gas stove in mint condition a few years ago in a house I was restoring. My gas company would'nt connect just because they said it was a safety hazard. I, as always was willing to forego safety for the sake of form.
