Was that made just for me?

It's pretty--right now--but will look tremendously dated in even a year, imo. In 5 years, it will be hideous, and I'm sure it costs a fortune.

And in 20 years you'll be paying an arm and a leg for a genuine noughties retro kitchen thing ....

You don;t clean it. If you can afford it in the first palce, you just chuck it out when it gets dirty and buy another one ....

You never actually cook anything in this kitchen - you get takeaway - "I'm keeping the extractor clean"

Ha! The very first thought I had when I saw this was, "Yeah, but how do you clean it?" I imagine that it's so expensive that if you can afford to buy it in the first place, you can afford to hire someone to clean it.

Form Follows Function, not.

Marm anticipated exactly my response. Those little glittery pieces -- each of which will soon be covered with a film of grease -- have crevices or gaps between them! This baby will require cleaning with an old toothbrush, probably after every use.

Martha Stewart could get at least 20 pages out of proper cleaning technique for it, though.

I would imagine this is constructed to be dishwasher-friendly in some way.

The real bitch is those 800,000 screaming New Yorkers in your kitchen counting down "10, 9, 8.." EVERY single time you want to make Jiffy Pop! ;)

Adds new meaning to the phrase "disco sucks"!

According to my understanding of how hoods work, someone correct me if my husband is wrong, is that a large volume of steam/smoke/stuff/ collects in the interior of a hood while the sucking motor action thingy works on getting it outside. If you don't have a hood big enough to collect the steam/smoke/stuff, that stuff spills out and all the smoke detectors in the house go off. So where does the stuff collect with this extractor?
ps I like the disco ball.

You know, this would look much better in the living room where it could gather up all that cigarette smoke, especiarlly during parties.

I'm sure the light on the bottom could come in handy, too.

Put it in the bathroom maybe?

My first thought is that this would be great for smokers!

Your comment makes no sense, even as a joke. If anything 80s fashion is in now, NOT 80s kitchens. Retro is not in and has never been in for kitchens.
