It's the tools that make the chef. For the pinnacle in stoves, we had long known of the AGA brand, a remarkable stove that is always on and can be used to heat your house. We didn't know much more about it, so were totally pleased to read a nice run down on it over at FunFurde. It got even more interesting when someone said they had something even better, the La Cornue, from France.
At prices ranging from $10,000 to $20,000 these stoves are pure candy for your kitchen, but they are also so old world in their charm and so good for cooking that they may get you daydreaming. MGR

I've seen them both in action- the joanne hudson kitchen design showroom you mentioned in Philly has both an Aga and (multiple) La Cornues that they bring top chefs in to demo on.
what I got out of it- Agas are great for slow cooking and roasting. La Cornue's air tight vaulted ovens make cooking anything sensitive to pressure changes (souffles or pastries) a breeze.
La Cornue is the winner- when you see one up close it looks like a locomotive. it really is impressive.
