Want to fix up your kitchen? Do you rent? Afraid of giving your landlord the permanent satisfaction of your own hard earned improvement? Then check out this great temporary tip:
Pottery Barn just introduced a modular set of stainless steel items, one of which is a pseudo-backsplash. Nice idea for renters.
The stainless steel magnetic backsplash is 36"x18", costs $79 and can be used by itself or in a line to go across the top of a long counter. We liked the rack too. (Thanks, Patrick 2!) MGR

Too bad it's only in the catalog/website. I'd like to see what it looks like in person, but it looks great in the photos. I'm seriously going to consider this option.
too bad they don't make modular cabinet covers, and countertops. I'm afraid the backsplash wouldn't do much for my kitchen (the black sheep of my apartment).
Nice, but IKEA carries a similar product line called UDDEN, at much lower prices. Plus cabinet and consoles.

The Backsplash is $29.00, Rack Shelf is $39.99, Tiered shelf is $49.00. Order online, catalog or pick-up at the store.,
Sigh, I measured my backsplash (my upper cabinets to bottom and it's too narrow for either of these. Oh well.
B-Hag--
The Ikea one measures 49 5/8" long, the Pottery Barn version a more apartment-friendly 36". This is simply an interesting idea/alternative from an unlikely source.
BH. Thanks for the tip on the Udden backsplash. I'm going to do some measuring tonight to see if I can make this work in my kitchen.
I recently did a stainless steel looking backsplash using aluminum roof flash. It looks really close to stainless and you can fabricate it yourself. Take a look!
