Winter Works on Paper: Isn't this guy just cool? David Winter barely moves as we snap his picture, but his walls speak for themselves. He has one of the finest collections of photography, botanical images and eccentric ephemera, both original and reproduced.

NOI New York: Broadcasting from the Lower East Side, NOI is a very cool small design shop started up by husband and wife, Richard Dunleavy and Elizabeth Dezi. Using tactile materials, they aim for the simple and the modern. Above are their lovely tile inlayed side tables, and below...

Ooh... a source for repro rollsigns! Thanks. (I blame you--AT--for my obsession with these.)
Enrique--
David is great to work with, and his repros are GORGEOUS... indistinguishable from the real thing, presented beautifully.
I'm totally psyched about the rollsigns. And I love his wall!
What is it with rollsigns? I, too, am newly obsessed, thanks to AT. One went on eBay a coupla weeks ago for nearly $500 -- way beyond my reach, but I was tempted to mortgage the farm and take a shot. Then I remembered that I don't have a farm.
These look like treasures.
FYI, David Winter shows different stuff at AD than he typically does at photo shows... he has an amazing collection of fine art photography, pedigreed and one-of-a-kinds.
He has an incredible eye, and for a man soooooo quiet, an amazing sense of humor.
I too adore those roll signs from the old subways. I know this is a long shot, but does anyone know of a source for Boston subway roll signs? I've seen signs from SF, and NYC, but not yet from Boston. I would imagine they existed, since it's an old system... suggestions on where to look welcome!
I've seen those big, long rollsigns at a couple of Polo stores. But i want an original, not a copy. Who sells the framed original long ones???
Bruce--
I bought mine at Blackman Cruz in LA, but I think *they* buy them unframed from David Winter... they are also available on eBay.
