One of our favorite designs spotted at this year's Architectural Digest Home Design Show was the modular Rodenhook shelving system from designer Martin O'Flynn of Brooklyn-based Of Design. A simple (but beautiful) system of powder-coated steel shelves and wall-mounted brushed stainless steel rods provide a foundation for this sleek display shelving...

The shelves are 10" deep and are available in various 24" lengths that rest on the steel rods that are mounted 24" apart. Martin mentioned that new shelving shapes are in the works to add to the collection

I guess I'm a stick in the mud -- I prefer flat shelving that can be used in any of a number of ways over shelving that limits my use, even if it's artistic looking. I don't find the angles on these shelves aesthetically pleasing or artistic, though -- but maybe the idea has potential.

These would be great if they were sized for installation into studs.

Uggh. Why do designers still insist on being 'clever' with their shelves. 'Clever' will not undo thousands of years of evolution that the book has gone through. You dont start with a solution and then create a problem...

the shelves are cute and, I agree, quite clever, but THIS is what you came back with from the AD show? There were some gorgeous designs: tiles, glass art, etc. Can we get some posts on the good stuff? I've been waiting all week.
