Untested by us as of yet and unreviewed by any other source we could find, we recently discovered Nicholas Dufine who specializes in custom finishing, antique restoration and re-upholstering. Since there have been a lot of questions lately about furniture refinishing and we need more sources for this, we are adding Nicholas Dufine to the hopper.
Located in the Bronx and founded in 1947, this family operation looks perfect for those a beloved, old piece of furniture that is begging for some TLC. Nicholas Dufine has restored furniture for "ordinary working people as well as families like the Rockefellers," and they promise a "quick turnaround time." Estimates are free.

For everyone who talks about "furniture porn" on this site, I think the picture of the chair on the left would be an example of some serious "furniture S&M bondage."
And thanks for posting another resource for refinishing. I'll have to check out Nicholos Dufine -- since I have a few chairs that need refinishing... some VERY BAD chairs in need of discipline.
;-)
Do they have a website? The website link is to google maps.
Is this the only resource posted? I can't find anything else. If anyone knows another furniture refinisher, preferably with a referral or some personal experience, I'd be most grateful!
David O, did you end up using them?

I just had a table refinished by Dufine Furniture (www.dufinefurniture.com) and would highly recommend them. Very professional, and also helpful when it came to picking out the stain color and finish. They can arrange pick up and delivery. The table looks great!

I had an antique secretary desk and chair that needed to be refinished, and there were pieces from the chair that were broken as well. It all looks amazing, and they were able to fix everything. Not only are they very talented in their craft, they are extremely professional. I would highly recommend Dufine Furniture to anyone!
