apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Dan Bleier

2004_9_30_bleier2.jpg
Real Simple. We found Dan Bleier's work due to an indefatigable reader whose ability to ping pong back comments on our posts is like Andre Agassi returning serve.

Composed of resin on paper on wood, Bleier's current catalog of 28 pieces makes you think he worked a semaphore in an earlier life... but is extremely chilled out now. His colors are bright but soothing, and his shapes evoke an exploration of balance and symmetry that is reminiscent of Donald Judd. Frankly, some are....., but others have real zing. Perfect for your clean, spartan, bare 1,000 sq. ft. loft.

He was represented by the Beth Urdang Gallery in 2002. Prices range from $2,000 - $10,000, and his complete website with newer works will be up next by December. He can be reached at 212.255.7019 and dbleierstudio@aol.com. (Thanks, Patrick!) MGR

These photos don't do the work justice, btw.
They have a really interesting quality in person that elevates them from their initial simplicity.
