Whether serving as a home to infamous residents or lodging to adventurous travelers, the Chelsea Hotel is a landmark of NYC history. We've never snooped around farther than the lobby and public space on the first floor, but that's all it takes to get a strong feeling for the place's eclectic, bohemian atmosphere...

Check out a suite I restored in the Chelsea Hotel:

I snuck into this place a few years ago with my S.O. and we wandered around for about an hour, looking at all the artwork, architecture, etc. We chatted with a nice older lady who had her gerbil in an excercise ball rolling around the hallway. It's a fascinating place.

my dentist used to be in the chelsea hotel (before the new management forced him to move, boo!) and I would *always* take the stairs so I could look at the art!

I saw this early this morning and now at 1:07PM PST am posting that through this entry, I found the flicker site and found someone linking to the Chelsea blog and since then have read up on all the trials and tribulations on this well known hotel as it continues to be mismanaged by the 2 minority shareholders who took a hostile take over of the place 2 years ago.
Quite the history and I'd love to see the venerable old place, it's history and such.
Love the shot of the woman on the kitchen counter and love how it hadn't been touched much since it was last done probably back in the 50's.

The staircase is amazing. I'm also diggin' that awesome kitchen. An old setup like that beats faddish stainless steel any day of the week.

you wrote "further" in the intro but it should be "farther"
mental= further.
actual distance= farther.

Ooooooh, I hate any form of pictures-aligned-with-railing. It makes me dizzy.
