The Painted Room: Interior-Themed Artwork

We've noticed a lot of artwork around lately that deals with interior design as subject matter. Here's a collection of classic and contemporary pieces, and even a couple done by computers.

If you hang a painting of a living room in your living room, what happens?

That question makes no sense.

ummm... why is there no Edward Hopper in this post? I'd hang one of his interiors in my living room!

However, I wouldn't say that these pieces look at interior design as their subject matter- they just happen to depict beautiful spaces. That's like saying a still life of flowers has to do with flower arranging- related, but not the same.

I adore paintings of interiors! Esp if its a space that is special to you...the first painting in this post is one that I did of the inside of our first (tiny) pad in Boston. Now we live in a bigger place, but I love seeing this painting each day to remember our newlywed days...

Also, I LOVE VanGogh's bedroom - a replica of it hangs in my babe's nursery -

Yes, the question is silly rhetoric. But that Dargeant painting absolutely rocks.

Mamma Andersson makes incredible paintings of vacant interiors and figures inside modern interiors. I highly recommend checking her out.

Guys no! The question is not rhetoric at all! (but it's one of those questions whose meaning is not always obvious before one finds oneself in that situation) I do have a living room painting in my living room and before hanging it I was wondering how insane that might be; anyway it's lovely but it still bears some psychological questions and self-referential kind of fun.
My painting of choice is Thomas McKnight's "Art Deco Room":

and I plan to use more of his works.

A fan of interior paintings, esp. those by Bonnard.

portlandsunshine I _love_ the style of your first painting (and the ones similar to it). Beautiful surprise.

So excited to see Sheri Warshauer's work here. I just saw a show of her work in Frankfurt, and her new paintings are incredible!

Who painted that last one? Just awful! Perspective is all effed up, colors are garish, subject matter is banal. Seriously, how could someone live in a space like that and not go absolutely bat-shit crazy suicidal?
