National Portrait Gallery: Your Favourite Brits Can Be Yours

Have you ever considered hanging a photograph of David Bowie (circa sparkly years) next to your vanity? How about a mixed-media collage of Richard Branson in the bedroom? Well, if the British National Portrait Gallery has any likeness of your most beloved Brits, you can now order a print without having to cross the pond.

The pieces start at $8 and go up from there. Any image available on the National Portrait Gallery website is eligible for order. Just click "get a print of this image" to the right on any portrait page. If you've always dreamt of enjoying a Bedfordshire clanger with Queen Elizabeth, now's your chance to have them both around the Thanksgiving table.

I went to the National Portrait Gallery last sunday on my weekend-trip to London. Currently they have an exhibition "Beatles to Bowie", photos of british musicians / groups of the 60's and early seventies, which i highly recommend !
They feature also an small exhibit of Twiggy's life in pictures ( this one is admission free, as most of the gallery ).

Are you sure that any image is available? If so, I'd like to know how to order this one:

There is no "get a print of this image" link as there is with many others. I'm pretty sure I'm doing something wrong, because I can't find the Bowie print you have posted, either, whether I search on "Bowie" or "Bebbington."

Bureaucrats have taken over the UK.

If Brits wanted to disseminate pictures of their great men, they could make digital files downloadable. Then anybody could get the print they wanted.

But NO!: the countless bodies at the National Portrait Gallery must be fed! Hence, the forms, the fees, the questions such as those raised by Anne in Chicago.
