Strolling through Soho last weekend we saw a booth with New York "artifacts" displayed in shadow boxes. Old razors, eyeglasses, glass bottles, smoking pipes: would you hang these objects in your home as art?
Do you collect any of these objects? Does seeing these items framed make you think twice about them as artwork?
The razors could be really cool in a bathroom.
I also like the ones composed of mixed materials. I think I'd rather put my own items together, though. I'd guess that's true to many of us who love this blog!

YES! it reminds me of the victorian curiosities set out for display, only like an urban safari. i had some old 1950s razors once, i wish i'd kept them for this very purpose. xo

I live in NYC. And about a year and half ago I found this stand. Sometimes you can get really lucky and find a cool piece. They are great for housewarming or birthdays and are “reasonably” priced. I have purchased about 3 different pieces for gifts. Every time I have family in town we hit up this stand. Really nice brother and sister that work the it. Great post.

Love it. I own my own frame shop and have framed all kinds of mementos for people. I have 4 old razors of my Great-Grandfather framed in black with a silver fillet and black suede hanging above my toilet.

Yes! We 'Bitches on a Budget' LOVE the spirit of this post-- we're totally into reusing, editing, and assembling all those free/cheap/strange objects the city offers everyday. The wackier the better. Recently we did a little vase full of old, tarnished scissors. www.bitchesonabudget.com
