Each of Phillips de Pury & Company auctions are carefully curated both in terms of the pieces offered and the order in which they appear. This makes me seriously jealous. Unfortunately, $5,000 is not affordable to me. I suppose I'll have to keep my Henri Cartier-Bresson poster instead.

This is a great idea! I'm going to try to make this first one, and look forward to the others.

Why not do more of this sort of thing, but with young artists who are not yet "known"?

I've been thinking about this very thing for a couple of years now. Unfortunately $5K for a photograh is also beyond my reach. Luckily, I stumbled upon the Aperture Foundation which sells limited edition photographs by some of the same artists featured in the auction with a good range of prices. Aperture also hosts photo exhibits for those interested in new(er) artists.
