Tomorrow's auction is at Phillips de Pury & Company's showroom, with a priceless view of the Highline in its last throws as abandoned landscape. If you can’t make it to their showroom, you can also bid by phone (212.940.1228) or online. You’ll need to register first, however, regardless of how you choose to bid.
Each of Phillips de Pury & Company auctions are carefully curated both in terms of the pieces offered and the order in which they appear. For new collectors, tomorrow's auction is a great entre into the art and auction world...the photographs are strikingly gorgeous, they ‘go with everything,’ and their excellent value is pretty much guaranteed to hold its own for years to come.

If you are new to auctions and still scared, why not start out with some vicarious bidding. Sneak over to Phillips de Pury & Company for the 10am or 2pm sale and just soak in the atmosphere. The auctions are free, open to the public, and worth experiencing. Feel the collective adrenaline pump, admire the art, and imagine it hanging on your wall!

This makes me seriously jealous. Unfortunately, $5,000 is not affordable to me. I suppose I'll have to keep my Henri Cartier-Bresson poster instead.

I've been thinking about this very thing for a couple of years now. Unfortunately $5K for a photograh is also beyond my reach. Luckily, I stumbled upon the Aperture Foundation which sells limited edition photographs by some of the same artists featured in the auction with a good range of prices. Aperture also hosts photo exhibits for those interested in new(er) artists.
