Postcards From Provence

1-30-merrow1.jpg

We found out about Julian Merrow-Smith's website, Postcards from Provence, a year ago in the NYTimes. He's a British painter who's been living in Provence for 8 years and painting a small picture every day (he also paints big ones). The small ones are really lovely and usually the size of a postcard...

He uploads each day's picture to his website where it is instantly for sale for around $100 to $200. They go quickly, and he always lists the person who bought the work and where they live. However, if you really like the picture, most are also available as giclee prints for $35.

Lovely paintings. The website was wonky the first few times I tried it.

This guy's doing about the same thing:

But it seems that Postcards from Provence is a bit more affordable. There's nothing like having an actual painting hanging on your wall. Cheers to those who allow all of to indulge!

Actually Duane Keiser used to sell his "painting a day" for $100 on ebay. Then he got popular, and now we can't afford another one.
