AT Email: Rowenta Pressure Iron & Steamer Giveaway - 1.31.08

WELCOME EMAIL READERS! PLEASE LEAVE YOUR COMMENT BELOW FOR THE GIVEAWAY.

January 31, 2008

1-31-rowenta1.jpg

Today I'm simply cleaning house. We get so much stuff mailed to us to test that we can't keep up with it. Therefore, most Thursdays we have been giving home products away and asking our winning reader to simply send us back a review so we can post it. This week, I want to introduce you to the Rowenta Pressure Iron and Steamer.

1-31-rowenta2.jpg

Coming, as it does, from the house of Rowenta, it's a beautifully adapted commercial iron designed for home use. Most steam irons have small internal reservoirs. This one has a 33oz. external tank and can hold enough water for marathon ironing (up to 90 minutes without refill) and is connected via a a flexible six-foot tube.

1-31-rowenta3.jpg

We have it here in it's box and the retail price on this baby is $160. If you are crazy big ironer and this would be a big help to you, please comment below and leave your name in the comments. We'll choose one commenter at random on Monday at 1pm and get back to you asap.

Best, Maxwell

I, too, have suffered from a broken iron--a Rowenta no less! I ran from my office to answer my phone and somehow managed to kick my ironing board. The iron fell to the floor and a plastic part cracked. Much sadness ensued. Of course, the call was from a telemarketer.

I'd love to replace my beloved Rowenta (r.i.p.) with this one.

i normally don't participate in contests like this but i am for 2 reasons:
1) i really love your site. i recently moved out of the apt i shared with my SO and your site inspired me to decorate the hell out of my new place. it finally feels like home!

2) i left my iron at the old apartment. i've been faking it for a few weeks but i'm at the point now where i could really use an iron... plus, i've got a lot of cute clothes i could be wearing if only i had an iron!

Three reasons why the Rowenta would have a good home with me:

1. I have not owned an iron in three years. There's a stockpile of things I never wear anymore. This looks cool enough for me to get nerdy about it and actually WANT to iron.
2. I just moved into a loft apartment with one roommate, two cats and no walls dividing our rooms yet. This would be one luxury in an otherwise mad world.
3. My big goal for 2008 is to learn to sew... and this would head up my first project -- curtains!

To say that I love ironing is an understatement. I can spend hours ironing, it is a sort of meditation I suppose.
Last night, I was starching my newest Dwell comforter cover. I love when the bedding is nicely "cracking" when you first get into bed.
When you like interior decorating and comfort as much as I do, you cannot live with wrinkled window treatments, linens or even towels.
Did I mention that "I love ironing" is an understatement?

Oh, I could really use this iron and steamer! My current iron, a Hamilton Beach, dates back to 1979. My mother gave it to me as a gift for going off to college. Seriously! I have had to replace the cord and the plug twice, and it still functions, but . . . it is a little - how shall I put this - - worn out. Poor H.B. iron. And no special features! And poor me!! I work 4 jobs in various settings and the only time I think about buying a new iron is in the morning when I am ironing . . and then the day gets away from me and then another day goes by and -- well -- no new iron. AT, I would be so very grateful if you would consider my wrinkled plight for your giveaway. Thank you.

I am a mad sewer. Currently a Fashion Design Student. This iron could possibly lead me down a direct path to nirvana. Oh, the heavens and earth might open up and swallow me whole. I already have what I perceive to be the “Ark of the Covenant” of ironing boards (Costco special).

This item although not tested and I am a tough customer, I am very meticulous about my irons. Appears to be the real deal. If chosen and if I find it to be worthy it would help me complete my triad of much needed equipment for successful completion of Design School. I would be glad to test and test and then test again. Oh and by the way, ask me about my "Ironing your way to inner tranquility" book soon to hit the bookstores. Not really but it is a thought.

Thanks for this great site, I love it but my apartment still is in dire need so I best keep coming back whether I win or not.

I hate ironing. After seeing this iron, I realize it's because I have a cheap $10 iron. Don't even get me started on the steamer part of my iron which basically serves as a clunky squirt gun. No more throwing clothes back in the dryer and wasting energy if I had this awesome Rowenta pressure iron and steamer.

I worked as a shirt presser at a dry cleaner when I was in high school. Ordinary irons just don't give you the boost that an iron with a reservoir like this can. What a treat it would be to have commercial grade power in my own little laundry/sewing station! I would give this iron a warm and tidy home!

As a quilter the reason I would love this iron it's ability to steam press. When you sew/quilt DO NOT IRON (iroing is when you move the iron around the fabric). When you sew/quilt PRESS (Pressing is when you lay the iron on the fabric and pick up the iron to move it to the next spot. Pressing means you do not streach the fabric or pull the seams. This is why someone who sews would pay so much for an iron.

I received one of these as a Wedding Gift and it has made my life so much easier. I get twice the ironing done in half the time. I cannot imagine using another iron. I would love to be able to replace it!!
