AT over BKLYN: Cherry Blossoms, Blocks, Bloomingdale's, Toastie & Black Chandeliers

I had an amazing day photographing two homes in Brooklyn for the new book and then had to work till midnight at the office. Needless to say, I'm a bit tired. So, instead of trying to think too hard, I'd just share with you some really cool things I've seen today....

>> The cherry tree branch that we'd found on the ground and put in water nearly four weeks ago, just decided to open. Spring is near!

>> Edge Chopping block from Conran - I saw this at Leslie and Alan's house in Brooklyn. It's super heavy, but a great shape.

>> Sanyo Space Saving Toasty Oven - I also saw this at Leslie and Alan's. They bought theirs in Chinatown, and it's a really distinctive shape, that is sort of nicer for being vertical than horizontal.

>> The Bloomingdale's Book of Decorating - I just saw this in person for the first time today! Based on the work that went into Bloomingdale's model rooms, this is the 1970's in all their glory.

>> I saw this black Chandelier at Yiming's house. While it looks glamorous and expensive (like Baccarat's black chandelier), it's not. She bought it in Chinatown at Pearl River!

I've seen those "double decker" toaster ovens for sale in Japan for years now. They're pretty cheaply made (and to buy). I always thought they were like that mainly to allow single people to easily toast two separate foods on different trays, but I guess they take up less counter space as well.

Thank you for the peek at the cherry branch! It reminds me that spring is just around the corner. How is it that it is not falling over? It looks so top-heavy. Is it just a really sturdy/heavy vase?
