Best Outdoor Garden Hose Showers 2009

showerhoseroundup.jpg

It's been really hot lately, and I've been wanting to find and purchase a simple outdoor shower that would hook up to a hose and stick into or sit on the lawn. At the house we visited in Italy in June they had one, and we used it all day long. It's the perfect way to cool down when it's hot and you can put them anywhere, from lawn to roof to beach to deck. Here's my digging for the day. I got carried away and did hours of trawling. Enjoy!

Apparently only women take outdoor showers.

I recently bought an outdoor shower by Backyard Gear, which is admittedly not as design-savvy, but just $55 and works great. Has a soap dish and a nice hose sprayer attachment.

Most of these look like they could be DIY'd with $50 worth of materials and an hour of time.

OK... I'm sorry, but am I the *only* one around here who's wondering about the frakkin' RABBIT HEAD?!?

I can't even concentrate on the article, that thing's freaking me out. [shudder] Creepy.

Really, no one's going to say anything about the rabbit head?

I would hate to sprout a rabbits head, that is freaky.

And attractive women in bikinis, at that. Apparently only heterosexual men and rabbit-lovers would want to buy these things.

Is the rabbit head a Donnie Darko reference? Does a plane engine land on you when you're done with the shower?

I absolutely need one of these. Outdoor showers are probably my favorite thing about summer :) I'm sure my condo association wouldn't be too thrilled with me though haha

Hey guys, that hurts my feelings. I can't help it that my head turns into a rabbit head when my hair gets wet. I'm just glad to see that the modeling industry welcomes women of all shapes and sizes.

What I want to know (without actually clicking on the link) is FROM WHERE DOES THE WATER COME? Is it something connected to the weather, so that when you step on the base it starts to rain? Or is that the same kind of trick like when my godmother told me red lights would change to green if I blew hard enough?

Also, whenever I see outdoor showers in yards I strip down to my skivvies and run over for a refreshing cool-down, rabbit head and all. So to answer caiti's question, yes.

Playboy bunnies... yes. Showering Hare-Head chicks... No.
And what's up with the girl needing to hose off after an exhausting curl-up in an infant's blow-up pool?

As usual, I just don't seem to get it. :-/

ugh. "girl not included," thanks for reprinting that, max. and would a lot of people shower with cold hose water? I can't imagine.

i love outdoor showers. one of the best things about my family's yearly visits to fire island (see below) is the outdoor showers early in the morning and after a long day at the beach. such a summer pleasure. BUT it's essential that they're kept clean and regularly maintained in terms of spider webs, fallen leaves and branches and drippage from shower products, otherwise, they're a mess.

many people, especially those outside long island/new york only know of FI as a gay summer spot, but it's way more than that, as there are many towns to stay in, many of them singles or family-oriented.

if you're not familiar with fire island as a vacation spot, or if you love it, see my post here: http://honeyliving.blogspot.com/2009/07/week-in-pictures.html

I saw the pics and just knew the comments would be hilarious.

Can we get some information on how to get hot water? Also, is it just attached to the garden hose line, and you connect and disconnect it every time you use it?

You should check out the one at The Surf Lodge. They've hidden it in a big old snag of a dead driftwoody tree:
