I was at the NY Gift Fair on Sunday and Tuesday, and despite the economic slowdown and the relatively quieter Fair, the show was the most beautiful I'd ever seen. In addition to many of the same talented people creating new things, everyone's booth looked a lot better (better merchandising), there were many more founders actually IN their booths (great to meet them), and there WAS some totally new, exciting stuff. This floor lamp from Rich, Brilliant and Willing was my top pick....

These talented young designers are a part of the American Design Club and had their own collective booth at the show.

I love the shape and the proportions of the shade. But the way the rest of the lamp was executed is awkward. The way that cord is just wrapped around the leg looks unresovled.

I like the improvisational quality of the wrapped cord. Seems like studio furniture to me!
