Hangar Prefab: Fab Prefab in Europe

4-7-beach2.jpg

Last month I had the pleasure of visiting architects Juan and Sara Matiz at home in Chelsea, where they live in a remarkable small loft with their two children (which we photographed for our next book). Juan is from Colombia and Sara is from Italy, which has allowed them to build an architectural practice in NYC (they're doing Etsy's new offices!), which also caters to international clients. One of their clients is an Italian company, with whom they've designed and are currently selling some really cool prefab homes in Europe. They showed me some pics and I was really blown away...

While the prefab movement in the US tries to gain momentum, it could really take a cue from this kind of stylish European approach (even if the designers live in NYC!). Check this eye candy out and think about how nice it would be to plunk one of these down about two hours away from where you are right now.....
