As I write this, it is getting late, but sweet Ursula is asleep, Sara Kate is away at a conference, and it is peaceful and quiet for the first time all day. Staying up and writing is a pleasure. As I was thinking about what to write about today, I was thinking about what a beautiful day it was and remembered meeting Amy Adams who runs Perch! at ICFF last year. Amy and her designs are exactly like the sunny day we just had (and that is not easy to say about most of the design at ICFF!), and I knew that it would make me happy to talk about them...

Amy is the perfect mix: born and raised in Minnesota and living (currently) in Brooklyn. That means she's got a lot of heart (midwest) and enough edge (Brooklyn) to be really successful. While her most recognizable pieces may be her Jetson-like, retro birdhouses and salt and pepper shakers shaped like crow's feet, I find the lighting infinitely more useful.

All Amy's designs are locally made and environmentally friendly - no lead paint here - and the ones that I like best are her Frida and Eleanor lamps (the crotched one) as well as her Hans sconces. To me these are handcrafted classics with mid-century roots. They will never grow old.

Best,

the big lamp with the handle is really nice. it reminds me of being a kid.. although my family never had any cool furniture.

that hanging thingy (maybe a birdhouse? the white one with orange hangers) is super cool! kinda looks like a bedpan.. but it would be perfect for some succulents.

Have long been a fan of Perch's sleek ceramics. Trying to justify why I need yet another salt & pepper shaker.... Also love this birdfeeder by Perch! Now if only I had a backyard...
