Matthew was a judge in this year's February Jumpstart Project, and I had the pleasure this past month of reading his new book. Matthew's book not only covers all the basics of DIY with upholstery, but explains it and shows it really, really well (you'll feel like a pro)...

As the crafting wave continues to grow, folks are moving on from knitting and sewing and taking on more complicated stuff. This book is a bible for how to do it.

The book is a collection of basic projects that involve discreet skills and is nicely organized by skill level — starting off easy and getting very hard by the end. You can open up the book and make a table runner this weekend, or spend more time and learn — with patience and practice — how to move from pillows to headboards to reupholstering a whole chair.

"With projects ranging from a handsome bolster, casual floor cushion, and floor-length curtains to a multipurpose folding screen, refined headboard, and fully slipcovered dining chair, both novice and seasoned sewers will find inspiration. User-friendly yet packed with information from an industry insider, Matthew Haly’s Book of Upholstery is a thorough primer on upholstery, sharing all the know-how you need to do the job yourself."
