I don't know of any native New Yorker who thinks Manhattan alone makes up the City of New York.

Yeah, I'm with click212. I appreciate the spirit in which that statement was made, but as a Brooklynite for more than ten years, the notion that Manhattan is the whole city makes me itchy.

And I live in the Bronx.

So are you guys going to organize a Brooklyn walk? I'd come from up north to walk with you.

The splendour of NYC, Bronx Zoo, Arthur Avenue, Prospect Park, Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Heights view of the sky line, Staten Island Ferry and the view from the pier, Astoria Queens, The view from the Triboro, let's get with the program here. The city's a wonderous place and the people are even better!!! The best of the world's cuisines are hidden in the outer boroughs. We who live here know what that means.

Crikey people, nowhere does it read "the city of New York" or an insinuation that Manhattan was representative of the city of New York. Get a grip!

maxwell - this is such a great idea. i applaud you for organizing this! i missed it last year and im so happy i heard about it this time 'round. it's one of those things i look forward to saying "i did it!"
to the rest of you old bitties complaining about a whole bunch of nothing. oh pulllease find something with purpose to put your attention and effort into. i pity you for picking apart his message when you know darn well he meant absolutely no harm. its ok to be a proud ny'er. a lot of us are proud to be a ny'er and we don't have to be disrespectful and petty with one another while we're at it. maxwell along with most people are fully aware of the fact there are 5 nyc burroughs - ANNNNNNNNNND?????? we dont need your pointless, awkward, negative whining. the invitation to this walk and the fact that it's broadway and it's the length of manhattan, blah blah - all very clearly explained. theres no malice in the comment re: the "whole" city. come on. why dont you quit yer bitchin - get up off your asses and take a really long walk. clearly you can use the sunshine.

I'm just going to say that when I went on this in 2005 it was a blast. I can't make it tomorrow, but I'm very excited about the little painting project that I AM doing tomorrow, so I don't feel too bad.

I'll be in Philly for family commitments, but wish I could do it again. Enjoy.

Too many people who aren't from NYC think that Manhattan is the cat's meow and are quick to dismiss the Burroughs out of ignorance. Manhattan alone is not NYC, it is one of the Burroughs. TV and Hollywood notions of what the City is, doesn't define the facts or the viable richness that the influx of different people bring to the city and most of them live in the outer Burroughs. Please don't be dismissive of the majority of its populace after all it is the energy that the people bring that makes NYC what it is.

I would love to do this, but I'm nursing some horrible foot issues right now. I'll wave if you walk though WaHI!

Well, can't you SEE pretty much the whole city? Walk, no, but see, perhaps.

Just spent the morning walking from 225 to 80th with everyone. Sadly, I had to leave to go to work, but it was fun and I got to see a stretch of Manhattan I hadn't seen before.

I highly doubt anyone was being intentionally dismissive, and jeeeez, y'all were INVITED, so it's not like you were left out of the actual walk... hopefully you went and lectured Maxwell about the coolness of the outer burroughs the entire way...

I did the walk all by myself.. I was late only half an hour (our train was held in the station almost an hour by the dispatcher) and when I got there I have been told the grp left already..I thought I could catch up but I guess I was so distracted by the beauty of Harlem and started taking photos and next thing I know I finished the walk around 1 pm which means I probably by passed the grp :-))

Next year I will make sure I will make a note of cell phone nr provided...
