AT Europe Question: Where Can I Take a Floral Design Class in Paris?

be1.jpg Dear AT Europe:

I’m coming to Paris in May and would like to take a class in Parisian flower arranging. Do you know where I can sign up?

Thanks!

Jennifer

The popular L’Ecole des Fleurs at La Belle Ecole offers half-day, day or week-long courses in the art of French floral arranging with themes like “seasonal flowers,” “flowers, fruits and vegetables” and “flower therapy” taught by Catherine Müller and other local talent.

The Paris Ritz offers two-hour pre-lunchtime “step-by-step” floral design courses once every two weeks that you can combine with on-site cooking courses. €200.

And Saint-Germain-des-Prés florist Pascal Mutel offers popular afternoon floral design classes that will let you in on the “secrets de l’Art Floral” several times a week at his boutique. From €95.

Seriously, this is a good question? It'll be interesting to see just how many people here in the US can answer it.

La Belle Ecole is excellent! That is where I took my floral arrangement class in September when I visited Paris. They even offer translators for those whose French is a little rusty. Native Parisians take the course along with tourists so it makes for a wonderful opportunity to study see the "joie de vivre" of the French in action!

Jesus, spending $200-$400 to learn how to arrange flowers? You'd have to really be devoted to your floral arrangements to spend a monthly grocery budget on it.
