AT Europe: Netherlands Close-Up - Nina's Wallpaper Patchwork

nina20.jpgOur recent house tour of Nina Van de Goor's Den Bosch, Netherlands apartment revealed her taste for multiple colors and patterns. Her favorite DIY element of the decoration was a wallpaper patchwork that she did in her kitchen studio. But it turns out patchwork is a theme throughout the flat.

Nina stripped the old wallpaper, painted the flat white and added vintage wallpaper in patches throughout, including this bold vintage wallpaper patchwork in her kitchen studio.

But she also reveals a weakness for patchwork in the living room, with its brightly colored patchwork rug:

And finally, check out the colorful quilt on her bed:

Too busy, too much for me. I could handle patchwork as an accent but to each his own...It makes a bold statement!

I love the large blue and green floral (closest to the olive oil tin) and would love to line an amoire or built-in shelves w/it.

That said, yeah too busy for me as well but she owns it with the clever repeating of the theme, and it looks like she's kept the rest of the surfaces single color and simple.

I love it-I am doing an entire patchwork wall that I am handpainting! It is a lot work but so worth it! http://waitingforruby.typepad.com/waiting_for_ruby/page/2/
It is busy! But so many people go with "safe" beige and white everywhere in their homes I wanted my home to have more character ! It is also a conversation piece because I don't know anyone,in life or on the computer, that has an entire handpainted patchwork wall!

Kindred spirits. I'd like to see it done with papers all from a single manufacturer's line. If you could get like 10 copies of the same sample book.....

The wall just looks a mess - to be done properly and look better the papers need to be all the same shape and size - like the quilt on the bed - otherwise it jsut looks messily random and confuses the eye
