Sears had black ornaments this year...I think it's safe to say this trend is "done"....way done.

If a black ornaments look good, then black ornaments remain good, whether Sears offers them or not. Try not be so jaded.

I like the idea of trees with themes, so if I saw a tree done all in black, I think I would like it (especially if the tree was white or silver).

I agree with readingglasses. Just because Sears sells black ornaments doesn't mean they are passe... good is good.

Themed trees make me so sad - the woman in front of me at the garden centre last week spent £320 on a fake tree and decorations - green tree with all white decorations - and at least half a dozen of each decoration design

Our tree doesn't have two decorations the same - they are all different - bought at different times by different people - I usually buy one new one each year - some made by family members - each one has a memory to it - to me thats what decorating the tree is all about - not about covering it with the latest coloured baubles you've jsut bought in one go.

These are gorgeous. Who says that because you buy these ornaments that all of the tree will be black or "themed?"
You can mix these with silver, gold, red, green, white, yellow, purple, whatever your hearts desire. Have some imagination people!

And "Violetrose," If one of these ornaments should spark your fancy, then just buy one and add it to your collection ...unless your collection can only contain certain colors, which would in turn make it "themed."

Love themed trees -- Xmas is not a time we're personally sentimental about. Problem is, I've seen so many appealing ideas that I'd need a small forest. Tailored black-and-white is definitely on that list.

How would you know that they are at Sears unless you were shopping there yourself? Unless of course you were forced to shop there against your will.

Black ornaments at Sears probably weren't the best decision by their buyers, their clientele base in general isn't that sofisticated. Look for them to be on clearance soon.

i don't shop at sears but i don't have anything against the store or who shops there. and i appreciate the tip - since i was looking for some black ornaments to add to my collection!
my idea of design whether it's a home, tree, apartment etc. is to mix it up a bit. some old, some new, some made, and those given as gifts.
when i was young and couldn't afford the ornaments (that were in) back in the day i would go to the 5 n dime and pick some unique ornaments that i liked. throughout the years i've received ornaments from my mother which are treasures to me! i've also done many myself. my daughters ornaments that were made from the time she was in preschool go up as well front n center on my tree. today all my friends and those that stop by always seem more impressed with those 5 for a dollar ornaments i purchased over 20 years ago. and yes those are my favorite ones glass stars that were made with individual pieces of round glass that sparkle like crystal when the lights on the tree are on.

It's our first ever Christmas at our own house this year, all the family are coming to us instead of the other way around for the first time ever, and it's a bit special to us. We saw a gorgeous shimmery black tree in a store, and lots of clear-crystal style and black decorations with bits of silver, and that's what Malcolm and I went for as our first ever 'full size' tree.
We didn't spend 320 pounds, but we did get the tree and a fair few decorations all at once, and it was really fun doing so!
It's cool to have all 'given' memorabilia on your tree and stuff, but I wish some people would stop being so smug.

Does anyone have any idea where black decorations and tinsel, etc can be found online? (in English?)
