apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

AT Europe: Paris Close-Up - The Interior Window

intwind2.jpgOne of the most important considerations in Muriel and Ed's renovation was how to brighten up their classic Parisian apartment whose one too many walls blocked the light, while preserving separate bedrooms for themselves and their young son.

So when renovating their kitchen, they decided to carve an interior window between the master bedroom and the kitchen. The light floods in from the bedroom, and they have added a window shade so that when you're sitting at their coffee table having an espresso, you don't notice that the view is of the bedroom. It's a smart solution that makes the eat-in kitchen a pleasant place to hang out.
