I'm wondering if you know of any local design schools that I might look into that would be comparable to what I'm doing in NY. I'm not totally concerned that the credits transfer, but am more looking for the experience.... one major catch being that I don't speak French (but am planning to take language classes as well). The only program I've been able to find so far is the Paris American Academy, which unfortunately only offers a month-long summer program, year program, or spring term (I'm really looking mainly for this Fall semester). I was disappointed to see that Parsons Paris apparently does not offer Interior Design courses.
Dear Erin,
Apart from Paris American Academy, AT Europe is not aware of other English-language interior design programs in Paris. Interior design schools like the Ecole Camondo in Paris require a working knowledge of French.
Anyone else?

Doing a semester abroad is great. I did it in 1997 and loved it.
Les Ateliers is the main design school in Paris, and arguably France. Not sure how much they'll have in English though (not much when I looked). I have to say that I didn't find them overly encouraging even though speak french). They wanted to do a formal exchange with Pratt where I'd basically be paying for one of their students to study here while I study there. That'd be fine except that tuition difference is thousands of dollars. Couldn't really afford that as a poor art student.
If you want a great European Design experience, I'd spend a semester at The Design Academy in the Netherlands (unfortunately in an ugly post WWII town). It has an amazing reputation and a lot of classes are in English. One of the Droog founders teaches there and numerous top designers studied there. I went there for a semester and loved it. Amazing facilities, really bright students and tough critiques. Really, really great experience. You'll also be more surrounded by great new design in the Netherlands than Paris (at least for everyday products which was my interest).
Also heard great things about a design school in Helsinki (that's where the Dutch students did their study abroad and they raved about its glass blowing facilities).
All this may have changed since it was a while ago. Good luck.

Parsons School of Design has a Paris campus --
http://www.parsons-paris.com. They have a program for visiting students but I'm not sure if the language is primarily French or English.

I went to Parson Paris and they do have an Interior Design program, or at least did when I was there. All classes are taught in English. It's worth checking out.

Exellent feedback on Paris. What about graduate programs for various design fields in Europe? London, Vienna, Berlin, anywhere?
Thoughts on other places in Europe?

I am a part time interior design student and I am also looking for an interior design study abroad program in Europe.
I would love any advice about programs (preferably in France)
Thanks
