Type: House
Size: 200 m2 (approximately 2150 square feet)

2-23-housetourlogo.jpgVisiting Peter’s home is like entering another world, a very opulent and soulful world. The moment you set foot through the front door this house lures you. It has a story to tell and tempts you to explore every little corner. As a photographer, Peter has an educated approach to lighting. He understands light and passionately explains why a small basement bedroom should be painted in dark green, dark brown or even black!

The result is unbelievable and I think he is onto something! This home has been a labour of love, it grew over the years with Peter and every item in this house was bought out of love and appreciation. The composition of every room is a work of art but some how it feels lived in and relaxed. Visiting this home was a truly magical experience!

My Style Is... Balanced.

The Inspiration: Different cultures inspire me.

Favourite Element: My bedroom, it is so opulent and heavenly!

Biggest Challenge: I wanted every room to feel a connection with one another whilst having a character of their own. The ground floor is almost an open loft space, with sliding doors for division; so creating a unique look and feel in ever room was quite a challenge.

What friends say about your house: My friends feel at home and relaxed in my house, I have no rules like taking of your shoes before you enter, (very common in Germany) because I want people to feel themselves and unrestricted by house rules.

Biggest Embarrassment: None that I can think of, the whole renovation process is quite challenging in itself, but certainly not embarrassing.

Proudest DIY: After the entire living room was painted, I had a change of heart and the colour had to be changed. The first attempt was done by a handy man, the second I did myself, it took a whole week!

Biggest Indulgence: I don’t have a single extravagant piece in my home, all the pieces are within reason, my biggest indulgence have to be to which lengths I will go to find the perfect piece, the dining room table was one of the last additions, I found it at a market in Paris. Prior to that I had a table tennis table, with a cloth covering it!

Best Advice: My ex-girlfriend played a huge role in the development of my house; she opened my eyes to new styles and approaches. The design of this house was based on love.

My Dream Source: I don’t have a dream source, I like to find things impromptu, on my travels. There is not a single store that I visit frequently because I love it so much, but there are 10 or so shops in London, Paris and Hamburg that I always stick my head in when I’m in town.

All that crushed velvet makes me twitch.

That comment about his ex-girlfriend, "The design of this house was based on love," breaks my heart a little.

i absolutely love the artwork - that ship photo is amazing, and i see a glimpse of another nude, as well.

i wasn't feeling all the fur, but that's me. i dig like envy the outdoor space and all those high ceilings!

what are those things on the coffee table? they look like sea creatures. they kinda freaked me out.

Except for the bedroom and the fur, I am in love with your apt.. Especially the white seating arrangement is so lovely...Oh and also the backyard is so inviting, wish I could grab my book and drink my lemonade and enjoy the warm weather.

Absolutely stunning! I took my time going through each photo savoring all the details (much like a box of exotic chocolates), filled with richness and drama). Really unique and creative use of textures. I too am not sure a huge fan of furs and the bedroom is perhaps a bit too heavy for my taste, but all-in-all a gorgeous home. Congratulations.

Love the textiles! It's great to see "old fashioned" fabrics like velvet used in a modern way.

I love the idea of using animal horns as "pots" for succulents and then placing them all in a vase. It's striking, to say the very least!

I think the bedroom is stunning, too, except that the photos of it are quite bad. It is lovely to see a home that has such a unique style and for once not a cookie cutter place full of the same ol' pretty pieces.
