apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Low-Impact Woodland Home
Wales

wales1.jpgIf you missed this one when we blogged about it last year, check out the hobbit-like eco-house that Simon Dale built for himself and his young family in just four months, with the help of his father-in-law, passersby and visiting friends...

wales2.jpgHe estimates that it took 1000-1500 man hours and cost about £3000. Read all about how they did it with detailed before and after photos at Simon's website.
Now he's trying to help build a low-impact eco-village project in Wales. You can read more about the Lammas Eco Village project here.

Sigh. Another dream house to add to the list. So far I've got houseboat in Australia, revamped lighthouse in Maine, reclaimed barn in the Berkshires of Massachusetts, tree house in Vermont, etc., etc..

Looks really cool, but I'm sure it's full of bugs. I can't stand bugs, so I don't think I'd want to live there. :(

Awesome! and yeah, hobbit house was the first thing that came to my mind, too.

And instructions! I love the totally technical illustration of how to bend a straw bale.

Really gorgeous. All homes you get your occasional pest. I wouldn't mind this to be a summer home or year round.
