apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Post from Paris: Fleux'

What was once a friendly, ultra-chic little black-and-white boutique that set up shop last year on a quiet street behind the B.H.V. in the Marais, Fleux’ has become a must-stop for design-conscious Parisians in search of witty, stylish and poetic contemporary accessories for the home.

Fleux’ recently relocated to a bigger space nearby to make room for feathered lampshades from Mat & Jewski, opaque white or black stemmed glasses that are all the rage right now on glamorous Parisian tables, European square pillows covered in rabbit fur, neobaroque stickers, votives, lighting, colorful ceramics, plywood antlers made fresh with a coat of matte black paint and more...

The young European designers showcased here also offer irreverent homages to the decorative arts legacy of kings and queens -- Marie Antoinette-etched monochrome lampshades and Louis XVI armchairs upholstered with skull and crossbones motifs -- and other eccentric, irresistible twists on centuries worth of design patrimony.

So this is upscale Urban OUtfitters style? I am so glad I'll be there in two weeks. Making a point to browse home dec stores and boutiques.
