Hallway inspiration from JenDavid. This is from LivingEtc and - as always - the epitome of casual style.
This Week's Assignment: Now we tread deeper into the thick of it. I love the Landing Strip!
In the Deep Treatment you are going think about COLOR and focus on the hallway, an area that is too easily overlooked and extremely important for the health of your home. Building a Landing Strip will help you filter the outside word, keeping your home calm and cutting down on your junk mail will give you back years of life. Enjoy putting together an invitation for week 8's gathering!...
The One Room Workout you are going to deepen your research online, get COLOR and begin to call in help. When looking for resources online, don't forget that AT.com was originally designed to provide listings to stores, services and products in it's GUIDE. If you are having trouble finding something, send in the question to your nearest AT site.

Wow! Props for Domino, everyone seems to agree it is the best American mag. However best overall for me is by far World of Interiors(even though generally I'm not trying to emulate that look in my own home). It's just such a gorgeous book to look at and read almost like going to a museum, a real pleasure when it comes each month.

I had to choose Domino, but the world wouldn't be right without a little Martha as well.

I also get some pretty good ideas from Cottage Living, which was initially surprising because I don't consider myself a cottage-y person. Turns out a lot of my friends read it too!

wow -- this little quiz has made me realize that I have completely switched over to the European magazines.
I've been reading Elle Decoration (UK) for years (not nearly as good as it was in the past, say around 2002), and pick up the other European variants when I travel (Netherlands, Belgium, Scandinavia, France). I get a subscription to Living Etc., and have been picking up Marie Claire Maison, Skona Hem, and anything Belgian I can get my hands on...
I grew up on Met Home, but no more...

Please stop perpetuating the "landing strip" label! The first thing it makes me think of is waxing...

Living Etc., Domino, Canadian House & Home and I am complete. And if anyone reading this is looking for Christmas present ideas for me, I need to have my subscription to CH&H renewed, hint hint.

Let me just say that sitting down to enjoy Domino is a complete ritual in my apartment. I anxiously await each month and when it arrives, I block out time solely to enjoy it. Simple pleasures, huh?

Back in week one we tried to focus on our entry hall and so far we've got nothing. It looks exactly the way it did in that AT picture. Actually, back then, it wasn't a very sincere one, since there were suitcases and bags averywhere. We've decluttered, but don't know where to go from there.
We're thinking about putting some of those wall stickers on the wall on the left, to add some interest without adding too much bulk.

This totally throws me that Domino is the favorite. I am getting ready to cancel my subscription to Domino because I don't like it nearly as much as Met Home and Elle Decor.
I want to see as many interiors as possible, not read articles. Even tho I can't afford super expensive items for my house, I want to see them so that I can emulate them. Domino seems too post-college decor for me.

lynn_va - Domino's not my favorite either. Everytime I look it at, I wonder why so many people like it. I tend to prefer non-US magazines - LivingEtc, Elle Deco UK (although I agree that it used to be much better). Although, I used to love Dwell, but not so much anymore. Actually, other than LivingEtc, there aren't any others that I consistently love right now.

I like Domino because it explains in words and pictures how rooms come together. And I still love Martha Stewart for New England decor inspiration, though I tend to skip the warmer months where gardening is emphasized over interior design.

I'm a long time Martha fan, mostly for the recipes and good things as well as for the traditional decor. But Domino has grown on me in the same way that Lucky mag did, it's not Vogue, but it does give you a good assortment of stuff and tells you where to get it and how much it costs in price ranges of affordable to ridiculous.
Since I installed hooks last go round, my entry way will be mostly decluttering and cleaning out the "office." Paper/mail clutter is such a struggle for me. And the books have to be put back on the shelf, meaning the shelf has to be re-assembled.

I agree lynn_va. Domino skews a little too young for me.
