The Spring Cure: Jany's Kitchen is Done!

5-31-jany1.jpg

Way to go Jany! Direct from Nyon, Switzerland, Jany just finished the remodel of her kitchen that she started during our Home Cure over the last few months. Above is the "after" pic, below the jump is the "during" pic and here's the slideshow:

"Dear Maxwell, my kitchen remodel is finished now, i've cleaned my apartment from all the dust yesterday and i finally feel again at home! Pictures are posted on the AT unofficial pool and here." (Thanks, Jany!)

I love the "keep calm and carry on" sign. I need one...

This is beyond cool. I have the same sign in my kitchen and people go nuts over it (thanks for tip AT).

Jany, where did you source the cabinets?

Well, I would say that this kitchen was designed for function. I love the notch between the cooktop and sink. Highly functional, thinking out of the box. It's smart.

Thanks so much for your comments!
Samanthalous:
the fridge-freezer is a Bosch KGP39390 Antibacteria.
Chris-Annapolis:
the cabinets are from IKEA, they are called SORBO.
And thanks to len, susan and k8luvsmicrobes for your feed-back.
I'm so happy with the outcome, and happy to be able to sleep again correctly at night, without worrying if everything will go fine. I was lucky to have found very good and reliable contractors, so the whole remodel went smooth and without mayor and unforseen problems.

Great kitchen! The only drawback is the small, single basin sink.

Gorgeous -- love the red tile!

Am I imagining it, or are cookbooks in that shelved nook in the corner below the counter?

wende, no. For the moment i'm storing washing powder there, and two metal boxes with light bulbs and candles. I'll put a small rack for wine bottles and some cook books there in the near future. Now, all my cook books are on a shelve above the kitchen door ( seen here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/18145526@N00/417689618/in/set-72157594580555528/ ).

Go Jany! It came out swell. The grey cabinets really make the red tile pop.

Jany,

Your kitchen is very nice!!! Congrats!

I know there are a lot of IKEA haters on this board, but IKEA kitchens rock! I'm in the process of installing one myself. I've go the uppers installed; next are the base cabs. Installation is very DIY friendly.

BTW: Where did u get that large trivit next to the stove? I'm looking for something similar, but I didn't see anything like it at IKEA.

That trivit is from IKEA... I have the same one.

Jany -- congrats on the new kitchen! (me too, I need the sign!). Odds are, we have been walking past one another in the Aubone IKEA for the past few months!

What I love is the door in front of your front-loading washer. Only question I have is how hard will it be to repair the washer or change out the hoses?

Charlotte,
i don't think that will be a problem. When the cabinets have been installed, wholes have been cut out between them ( the washing machine cabinet and the one under the sink) to pass the hoses. Also, the machine is not fixed on the socle and can be taken out out of the cabinet. It's the smallest machine available ( in Switzerland ) , from Kenwood and only measuring 68 cm in height, and each 47 cm in depth and width.
