HGTV Design Star: Fallen Star Neeraja Lockart

Who says a Diva won’t get her hands dirty?

Well, she at least dishes the dirt. Neeraja Lockart, the second designer voted off last week HGTV’s Design Star, talks to AT. And it’s good.

8-13-neeraja2.jpgThis no-nonsense lady of style gives really interesting insight into the challenges that we don’t see on TV (hint: Could any ATer solve a design dilemma without Googling, or the chance to post a quick “Good Question”?? Or, heaven forbid, without a cell phone!!?!) She also explains why Sin City doesn’t quite measure up, for bar stools or otherwise, to her Palm Springs tastes.

We’d sit next to Neeraja at a cocktail party. Well, maybe, partially because we’d be afraid to walk away from her…!

Any other surprises? Well, in spite of her ice-princess façade, she spoke very fondly of her cast mates (most of ‘em). She had some issues with Vern Yip (Does the good Yip have an evil Yang?). And, despite some setbacks with the interview itself, she was calm, collected, flexible and funny.

Now we really wish she’d be around to go at least one more round with bad-boy Robb. We predict it would have made the Crystal/Alexis throwdowns of yore look like tickle fights.

Remember, each week we’ll be interviewing the latest fallen Star from the cast of Design Star.

And hear all about the show direct from the HGTV VP, Event Programming, James Bolosh, in the interview that kicked off the season of this HGTV ratings powerhouse exclusively for AT readers.

too bad she got the axe but, as team captain and, with unfinished work, well, she had it coming. Alas, I would have loved to see what she would have done on this week's individual challenge.

Is it me, or does she look frighteningly like Donna Karan in that first picture?

I always thought she looked more like one of the Tilly's (Meg or Jennifer)...

Ms. Karan should be so lucky.
