apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

ReadyMade Mag + Apartment Therapy

2005_1_20_readymade.jpgSmall spaces. As we get ready for our SMALLEST, COOLEST APARTMENTS contest, we had to pimp our latest collaboration. In this month's Ready Made Magazine, we contributed a How To: Build A Floor Storage Unit, that we use in our bedroom to the Small Space Issue.

It's a nice spread, with some great coverage of other people's solutions (far more sophisticated than ours), and the photographs are embarassingly serious.... (Photo: Noah David Smith) (Thanks, Jake!) MGR

Its virtually impossible to find this mag in canada, so i just subscribed to it. Can someone confirm that this article is in the jan/feb issue? My sub is going to start with that one.
Thanks.

Care to be a little more specific? The B&N on 6th ave and 8th st does not sell it.

That is the coolest storage I have ever seen. That made my jaw drop, a "wow" come out. That is so great. The perfect place for CDs and books, I swear.

The feature on Apartment Therapy is one of the main reasons I bought "Ready Made" this month.

I live in the West Village and we have that small rooms/high ceiling combination. The floor storage thing seems like a clever idea, but I feel as if it would give me vertigo. With the desk so low and the ceiling so close to my head, I'd be walking around the bedroom going, "I'm a giant! I'm a giant!"

OOH, will your coolest smallest apartments contest extend to outer boroughs?

Nice! I have been admiring that unit since my issue came. Now I know why it was so cool -- it's Apartment freaking Therapy's. I've got the coolest small apartment in America's poorest big city.

I love the little work-space over in the corner. Cute!

I love my 10.5 ft ceilings, and I've thought about dividing up my "closet" into two mini floors. [Nothing under 6x6 is a bedroom, no matter what your broker says.]

Does anyone know where I can buy this magazine close to or in the west village?

The magazine is how I found out about you. Oh so very cool!

There are many small magazine stores downtown -- try one of them. If no where else has it, I've bought it at Barnes and Noble before.

Their website lists the stores that carry it. Click on "where to buy". There are several stores listed in 10003, but nothing in 10013.

Nell, I got my copy at Urban Outfitters on Sixth Avenue around West 4th--just south of the B&N on 6th & 8th.
