Mission M-Cube: A Soft Home Theater System

2005_13_mcube.jpgID Magazine's Design Review is out and while we LOVE the magazine, not many of their picks got our blood pumping. Could it have been that slow a year in design?

One sexy little space saving number that we did like, however, was the Mission M Cube (£1200), which is billed as "discreet home-theater system" and consists of one main cube and five small satellites. It looks like an iPod crossed with a Bose system... or a discreet air purifier, perhaps?

2005_13_mcube2.jpgDesigned by Seymourpowell (London), the M Cube also sports a soft white color, rounded edges and interchangeable ultrasuede "wraps" which allow you to "match your system to your decor."

Aesthetics aside, both Tech Digest UK and The Mirror give it the thumbs up in terms of sound quality. This is powerful little rig. MGR

I've been looking for those Gallo speakers for years since I saw them! Thanks for the link!

The Gallo speakers are available at several high-end audio shops in Manhattan. Speak to Steve at Sound City on West 45th Street, he's the best. As an alternative, you can also go to Stereo Exchange. I'd avoid Park Avenue Audio where they are also available. You may also find them used at www.audiogon.com --one of the best used audio sites.

If you want beautiful speakers that are audiophile grade, look at Gallo speakers (www.roundsound.com). Their products are amazing quality at a fair price point. The A'diva and Micros are far more stylish than these and come in a variety of finishes. Personally, I have the D'ues and Reference 3s at home and couldn't be happier.
