Siedle and Housing Devices: Two Nice Apartment Intercoms

03.19.siedle.jpg

Suffering from an ugly apartment intercom? Ours is a beige plastic eyesore that greets us right inside the door. But this audio system from Siedle is actually nice-looking (the interior and exterior panels are pictured up top)...

03.19.devices.jpgWe're also liking this flush-mount stainless steel version from Housing Devices.

Either of these are a world of improvement over what we currently have in place.

I guess I should feel lucky that the second one you posted is what is in my apartment. And fotunately, it was installed around a corner, out of site from visitors, as opposed to right beside the door.

Yeesh, mine is so hideous, which is why I hide it behind a wall mounted box painted yellow...

What I really want is an intercom with a "door chime" or something better than that hideous buzzing.

oooooh. i'm liking. our new place has an awful intercom pad that's hideous and way too obvious. this might soon be taking its place!

jimk - it looks like Siedle offers different ring tones, i can't seem to get the rings to work on my computer though. silly office download policies.

Can you replace an exisiting intercom pad? My new place has the hideous beige model, prominently mounted in the living room. My soon-to-be old place has the sleek metal one that you picture. I'm sure no one would notice if I swapped them!

Or I could build a little frame with a door on hinges...like those things you put your keys in...

I made a post about sexy intercoms a while ago (http://www.modernflat.com/security/not-so-ugly-intercoms/) there are so many available there's no reason not too!

Nice choices by the way, I like the simple lines and colours... anything with a big blue button is OK in my books. :)
