Beautiful Bathrooms from Around the World
Arch Daily Archives

We've found ourselves getting lost in the Arch Daily archives and thought we'd put our recent obsession with international architecture to good use for Bathroom Month — here are 5 inspiring modern bathrooms...choose your favorite in the survey below...

Keep in mind that these are all images from an architecture site...so many of the photographs show empty rooms where the objects and furnishings are kept to a bare minimum to highlight the design.

INTERNATIONAL BATHROOMS
1 This bathroom from Hof Residence is in Skagafjorour fjord, Iceland. The architect is Studio Granda.
2 Enrique Browne y Asociados Arquitectos designed this Apartment Refurbishment in Santiago, Chile.
3 We love the red tiled wall and oak shelving in this Oporto, Portugal Home from Cesar Machado Moreira of Ezzo.
4 The FjÀllhus Residence in Harjedalen, Sweden was designed by PS Arkitektur.
5 This residential bathroom in Culver City, California is from Sander Architects.

Although none of these do much for me, Iceland is a clear winner in my opinion.

I agree, none of these are outstanding. But I do love those rectangular marble tiles on the wall in the one from Iceland.

The Portugal room is sculptural and very appealing. But with only minimal, open storage, it would look lousy in actual use.

I love the flooring choice of the Icelandic bathroom - it would be perfect for the pie-shaped rooms of my apartment...

I am pretending there is a closet or medicine cabinet of some kind in the Portuguese bathroom, behind the camera. i would be willing to switch to attractive, sculptural products that matched if I had that room!

keep in mind you are only seeing ONE picture of each! it is highly probable that there are other storage/design elements on the opposite sides of the rooms!

I love the look of the Portugal one... but I could never use it because of the apparent lack of storage. I would clutter it up too quickly!!

i am a little confused by the third picture. when you go to wash your hands at the sink, it appears that you have to then kneel on the raised wood platform and then lean over in order to reach the sink (i.e. the sink is above some sort of bench on the left hand side, the floor where you can walk is on the right hand side). Maybe my eyesight is just bad though...

None of these move me (he he), but the Iceland one comes the closest. It has some texture, and the color palette is restful. It would be especially pretty with snow outside. I like the placement of the large window, so you have a view from the bath. But what is that hose or cord on the wall -- a hand shower? If so, it's odd placement.

They are all ugly in my opinion, especially the one from Sweden.
