Hinoki Wood Bath Mat from VivaTerra

03-06-mat.jpg

Bring the spa home. Get a good start with this Hinoki Wood Bath Mat from Viva Terra.

Hinoki, or Japanese Cypress, is naturally an antibacterial material, making it a fitting material for a bath mat. It is also highly resistant to humidity. The wood is also used to build traditional Japanese temples, shrines, and palaces.

The mat is slightly elevated above floor level on slats. It'll lend a warm and natrual touch to the bathroom. We love it on the slate tiles shown in the photo.

The large mat, at about 24" x 14", is $55 and the small, at about 18" x 14", costs $39.

Ooh. This might be a great accessory addition to our minor bath renovation. Thanks!

i actually bought this and it became very grimy -- i tried to clean it with mild detergent and water and also wood cleaner and neither worked. it's much lighter in color than other wooden mats and also perhaps because it's not treated.
i wouldn't recommend this product.

Isn't the idea to keep the water off the floor?

IKEA sells a similar wooden-slat bathmat for much less money...

Can anyone recommend some attractive fluffy/shaggy bath mats? I want to keep the water off of our new tile and have something cushy to walk on. My World Market one just gets all flattened out and makes me sad.

They all get flat. You need to "fluff" them once a week with the vacuum.

I've never understood the point of these wooden bath mats - a bath mat is supposed to stop the water getting on the floor - with these wooden ones you'd need a traditional bath mat AS WELL!!
