The Ocean Plait Rug
Hand-Tie One Yourself

Made of nautical rope, ocean plait rugs make beautiful doormats at the entryway or floor mats in the bathroom. And best of all - you can make one yourself:

An approximately 2x3' rug will take about 75' of rope, depending on the thickness of rope you're using. Follow instructions here at Martha Stewart or here at the International Guild of Knot Tyers. Above are photos of some beautiful ocean plait rugs we've spotted around the web for inspiration.

That purple one is so pretty. Maybe it's just the sun that's making me want it.

I don't think I could do this! I would probably throw it up in the air after like 3 minutes ha.

Forget DIY! I wish I was so crafty. Any links to buy?

The International Guild of Knot Tyers has simple instructions that made sense at first glance.

No sure if I will try this or not.

purple one looks like an old climbing rope- good use for when it's too old for climbing any more!
