Area Bedding

Area is one of our favorite bedding designers. They manage to pair urban chic with a bit of colorful fun in a good way. This is still bedding for grown-ups. With their spring styles now out, we thought it was time to do a roundup of a few top picks.

Season before last they had a very large-weave linen that I lusted after...unfortunately, they stopped making it before I could buy it. They don't seem to have much in pure linen anymore, which is too bad...

Happened awhile ago but really can't get over the fact they have not been quite honest in labeling fabric content. Proof: I can show you their curtains that though labeled "100% cotton" are most unequivocally not. My theory was later confirmed by someone who had worked with them.

Dear OGMA,
we never sold any 100%cotton curtains so please what are you talking about?????????
Or better yet show your proof!

Okay Anki,
So you are at Area. Where are you? I'll be happy to bring them. As I said it is a while ago but I'll be happy to show you.

We have a modern bedroom suite with bed that has a king size low box spring and a pillowtop mattress. Area Bedding linen grid patterned quilts by Anki Spets are too small. Where can we find larger? Or the fabric to have one made that covers the bed? These appear to be designed for platforms only. We have a new $4000 mattress and cannot replace.
Any suggestions are welcome.

Can anyone suggest where a good range of Area bedding is on display in NYC? I am looking for an example of the PINS bedding in green - but it's not at ABC and I can't tell the color well from the online photos.

Many thanks for any help.

Laytner's on 86th between Third and Lex has Area bedding on display. I am 99 % sure they have Pins on display.

Incidentally, until I saw it there, I was concerned about the less than enormous thread count. But, as Area claims, the texture of the treads is outstanding and makes their product very soft.

Ooops. Just checked them out. They have several patterns on display, but not Pins.

Thanks for the effort! I'll keep looking.

Room & Board has a ton of AREA bedding. They have some exclusive patterns too.

Does Area ship to Canada? I have only found one store in Vancouver that carries a very limited selection of Area bedding, and as usual, I am having difficulty finding a website that ships outside the US.

Monika might want to check out Century 21. They have some of the linen line on display right now.

I really love Area's patterns. The colors and shapes are such a relief from the kitch of your typical department store styles, as well as the mid-century or 1970's nostalgic "modern" bedding designs. And the fabrics are wonderfully soft.
Thanks, Anki.

I bought a bunch of Area in 2000 and 2001 and have literally worn much of it out. Looking forward to the next sample sale.
