Of interest to design or retail junkies is the fact that Robert is the son of Crate and Barrel founders Gordon and Carole Segal (his brother founded Chiasso). Additionally, Unison's aesthetic is heavily influenced by Robert and Alicia's four years of working for Marimekko in Finland.

As their website says: Unison’s first collection of printed bedding and throw pillows mix organic and graphic inspired motifs for a modern and colorful look. When designing textiles, Robert and Alicia are inspired by nature, architecture, photography, traditional textiles and textural patterns – what they see living in Chicago, in their travels, in their everyday.
