10-8-wsh-logo.jpg It's here! After an initial launch nearly five years ago as a catalog, Williams-Sonoma Home is opening their first store in New York City, on Friday October 10th. Taking over the mezzanine space of the Williams-Sonoma store at Columbus Circle, the home furnishings store is a beautiful update to what was an awkward space...

The store helps complete the Williams-Sonoma brand and offers, upholstered furniture, casegoods, rugs, lighting, bed linens, table linens, tabletop and decorative items, etc. that all can be classified as classic and updated traditional. Williams-Sonoma Home takes great pride in its custom upholstery and offers a wide assortment of furniture frames and upholstery that is "delivered in 45 days or less."

Overall we were impressed with the quality of the pieces. Though the price point is higher than the other brands in the Williams-Sonoma family (Pottery Barn, West Elm), this is reflected in the quality which we think rivals that of super high-end home furnishing brands like Ralph Lauren.

The store is an excellent addition to the offerings in Manhattan and allow New York customers to finally see the quality of the merchandise in person. Though this store is very small, the customer is exposed to the range of the Williams-Sonoma Home line and their complimentary design services.

and when you find something you can't live without...have the outlet (Riverhead - Long Island) on speed dial to see if they have it out there...it's worked for me.

You say this is the grand opening of the first NYC location yet how was it that I was in a William Sonoma Home store around the corner from Cafeteria August '07?

Seaside, you were either in West Elm (a Williams Sonoma company) on 17th street or you were in The Pottery Barn, bed and bath store on 7th ave at 16th street, also a Williams sinoma Company.

I just tried stopping by there at lunch today, but its not open yet. Picked up the catalog and they have some nice looking pieces though not particularly my style. Especially liked some of the lamps.
