Anes Dresser by Ehlen Johansson at IKEA

Looking for a great affordable dresser? We recently spied a new entry - the Anes - over at the IKEA stables, and without mixing our metaphors any more, we're excited about it. Designed by Ehlen Johansson, it's got all the makings of a classic IKEA piece: modern, distinctive, practical, affordable and sold out...

We even were at IKEA on Friday (Long Island) to buy two for a client and found them sold out - for the time being - in the tri-state area. Big suck. They swear that they're not out of stock and it's only a matter of time until they're back in.

The Anes comes in two sizes, with 2 drawers or with 4 drawers.

Oh! The short one looks like it would solve my linen storage problem perfectly. Sadly, it's sold out in Houston, too.

didn't they also used to sell a small bench that matches these dressers? it had a shelf underneath and would have made a good shoe rack. it was always sold out also

phew! It's more expensive than I thought... and that's a good thing, cause I would be kicking myself if the price compared to the slightly smaller, and less pretty dresser I got from Ikea.

The quality on the pieces in this line is quite good. I have the bed, and the bent ply is lovely and thick.

Mm, I love the look of the bed, I've been trying to convince my husband, but he absolutely insists on a box spring :( I'm working on convincing him instead of the dressers, but he's not 100% sold on it yet. Guess it's a good thing since they're sold out anyway!

I always liked these, but it is important to note that they are bigger and bulkier in person! These are one of the biggest scaled IKEA items I think I've seen.

Yay for ANES! I didn't realize they were hard to come by. I'm pretty sure I just went to the store and bought them. I have two of the four-drawer models in my bedroom, but they've been here a few months. I think they're fabulous, and the quality is better than I was expecting considering the price. Classic, neutral, stylish, inexpensive and works great. Yay again.
karenmmmm, yes, I'm sure there was/is also a bench that is the same style. I've seen it displayed either with the coffee/end tables or the TV stands, I can't recall which. I don't think it's called ANES, either, but it's the same style and material.

Karenmmm/Splatgirl, is this what you're looking for?

Bluestar, if you do wind up getting a bed from IKEA, make sure you go with the most expensive option for the support slats (not the cheap-o ones they'll give you by default when you order). Makes all the difference in the world, and your husband will never notice there's no boxspring. (No need for a bulky boxspring when you have proper support and a good quality mattress!)

I have the 2-drawer dresser and the LIMA tv unit, and they're in storage until I get into the right place (soon, I hope). They are already built, and just one caveat....they are pretty lightweight (yet reasonably sturdy)...so just don't weigh the drawers down too much. ANd the door on the LIMA... just be gentle. ;-) Other than that, it can easily stand the weight of a flat screen tv. (I have doubts about an old cathode tv, which nobody should be getting anymore, anyway.

How frustrating! Not only are they sold out at the 2 Ikeas near me, but here in Canada, they go for 299$ instead of 199$. :(

Anna at D16, thanks for the advice on the slats. I am planning to order two twin-sized platform beds from Ikea and didn't even think of that. I will spend the extra $ for comfort!

I bought some for a client last month at the Emeryville, CA store and was told that the manufacturer is going bankrupt so they were being discontinued.

I have the two drawer one, My husband and I converted our 1,500 cd collection to sleeves.

(http://www.jewelsleeve.com/cgi-bin/mivavm?../mm5/merchant.mvc Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=jewelsleeve&Category_Code=C001)

This dresser was PERFECT for holding all the sleeves, it has a middle crossbar for support and is far less obtrusive than our 6ftx5ft cd unit was.
